Comfort v. Contentment

Today I’ll be discussing the difference between being comfortable in faith and being content.

First I’m going to start with the definitions of each.

Comfort

-verb

to soothe, console, or reassure; bring cheer to

Contentment

-noun

the state of being contented; satisfaction; ease of mind.

It’s easy to become comfortable in faith and that’s where we trip up. The more comfortable we get the less we notice the lack of progress we’re making. Being comfortable has become an excuse to not grow and deepen our relationship with Christ.

Contentment is different. This is being content with where God has placed you for this season in your life. If you are content you aren’t envious of others and what they are doing, you’re focused on God and what he has planned for you.

With contentment you’re happy where you are but also willing to go where the Lord calls you when he calls you. It can be difficult to do so but it is so rewarding in the long run, to know that you are following God’s will. It’s easy to be comfortable but, to step out of your safety blanket and be brave is scary. Then  not want what your not supposed to have is even more difficult, to have that peace takes patience and a lot of prayer. Pray for contentment and God will give it to you if you’re actually going to apply it to your life.

Until next time!
